Advantages and Features of HANSA-FLEX 2-Way Ball Valves

  • Secure shutoff of media in both directions
  • With versatile connection options
  • Suitable for high pressures and temperatures
  • Alternative to solenoid valves for manual control

Areas of Application and Uses

2-way ball valves are used in a wide range of technical systems in which liquids or gases need to be reliably shut off. Thanks to their robust design and ease of use, they are suitable for both continuous industrial operation and mobile applications.

Typical areas of application

Hydraulic systems in machines and vehiclesIndustrial plants, e.g. for media controlDrinking water installations, provided that approved materials are used
Agricultural and construction machinery, e.g. for isolating individual control circuitsPlumbing and heating installations, for example as shut-off devices upstream of fittingsProcess and procedural engineering with high requirements for tightness and material resistance

Ball valves also offer a reliable solution for maintenance, service and plant design – especially where pressure, temperature or medium restrict the use of other valves.

Selection Guide: Which Ball Valve is suitable for my Application?

To select the right 2-way ball valve, you need to consider various criteria, depending on the medium, installation situation and operating conditions.

Important Selection Criteria at a Glance

Medium
Hydraulic oil, water, compressed air, gas, chemicals
Pressure range
Up to 700 bar – depending on construction and material
Temperature range
Standard: -20 °C to +60 °C; Stainless steel also suitable for higher temperatures
Connection type
Internal thread, Screw connection (e.g. 24° cone), Flange
Operation
Manual or automatable (e.g. via solenoid valve or drive)
Flow capacity
Depending on nominal diameter and free cross-section

Frequently asked Questions

A 2-way ball valve is a fitting used to shut off or regulate the flow of media in pipelines. It has two connections (ways) and a spherical disc with a through hole, which is opened or closed by turning it 90 degrees.
Inside the ball valve is a perforated ball that is rotated by a quarter turn of the lever. In the open position, the bore is parallel to the pipe, allowing the medium to flow unhindered. When the ball is rotated 90°, it closes the pipe completely – the bore is then perpendicular to the flow. Operation is manual or automated.
A 2-way ball valve has two connections (inlet and outlet) and is mainly used to shut off or release the flow. A 3-way ball valve, on the other hand, has three connections and allows the medium to be diverted between different pipes or media flows to be mixed.
